Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur ran out 2-1 winners against a Malaysian XI side at the Shah Alam Stadium earlier today.
The Spurs hotshot opened the scoring on the 19th minute mark, only for Malaysia to equalize just three minutes later through Thiago Aquino.
Kane struck once again before the half-time whistle, handing the away side a 2-1 lead at the break. Both sides made a myriad of changes at half time, as the tempo visibly picked up.
Malaysia threatened on various occassions, but the score line remained as Spurs secured a win that earned them the inaugural AIA Cup.
“We’re very happy because I saw some good things. The younger lads played well. It’s been great experience,” Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino said after the game.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for the young lads to play and train with the first team. They’re the future of the club. I want to thank our fans out here who have been fantastic. It’s been a fantastic experience for us all.”
Spurs are now on their way to Australia, where they will take on Sydney FC in their last post-season game, before heading back to the UK.
