Lee Chong Wei inspired Malaysia to a surprising 3-2 win over South Korea in their opening match of the Sudirman Cup yesterday, and the victory was primarily dedicated to the man himself, who was making his first appearance in over eight months.
Chong Wei defeated Lee Dong Keun in the third event of the match, to hand Malaysia a 2-1 lead, and he looked completely fit as well, easing past the Korean at his own pace.
But the highlight of the match arrived in the first set, with Chong Wei leading 16-12. Both men engaged in a short rally, before Chong Wei manufactured an impressive trick shot to leave Dong Keun surprised to extend his lead to 17-12.
