The race for Most Valuable Player (MVP) is over and the worthy recipient is none other than Stephen Curry from Golden State Warriors.
The NBA made the announcement on Monday, with the trophy set to presented on Tuesday, before their match against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Curry was considered a front-runner for the award due to his sterling performance in the 2014-15 regular season. He inspired the Warriors to an astonishing first place in the Western Conference with a franchise record of 67 wins. The Warriors then bagged four straight wins over the New Orleans Pelicans in the playoffs, earning themselves an easy ticket to the Western Conference semis against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Perhaps the NBA’s most skilled shooter, the 27 year-old broke his own NBA record for three-pointers in a season (286) alongside averaging 23.8 points and 7.7 assists per game. Curry also improved his previously poor defense and played with much style to make himself the most consistently fun superstar in the NBA.
Those achievements helped him fend off challenge from Rockets’ James Harden, Cavaliers LeBron James, Thunder’s Russel Westbrook, Clippers’ Chris Paul and the Pelicans’ Anthony Davis, to eventually claim the prestigious recognition.
