National junior bowler Nur Syazwani Sahar secured a gold medal for Malaysia in the Under-21 Junior Masters category at the ongoing Thailand Open Bowling Championship.
The 17 year-old back-up bowler knocked down a total of 1,680 pinfalls in eight games and edged the competition to a 8-pinfall lead to claim her win.
Another Malaysian in the form of Siti Aishatun Hussin, finished second to bag the silver medal with 1,672 pins while Singapore’s Kuek Qi En dropped 1,646 pins for the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Gillian Lim Siew Geok also nailed a gold medal for Malaysia in the Under-18 Junior Masters category. The Miri-born bowler secured a total of 1,607 points to finish ahead of Thailand’s Kantaphorn Singhabupha and fellow Malaysian Abang Afiq Yazid.
