Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the prospect of signing Japanese attacking prodigy Yoshinori Muto
The Blues have been scouting him for quite some time now and have reportedly submitted a bid to Muto’s current team, FC Tokyo. With their recent sponsorship deal with Yokohama Rubber, Chelsea are also looking at this as an opportunity to expand in their influence in Asia.
“It is true that Chelsea sent us an offer for Muto,” Naoki Ogane, the Tokyo president, told Sports Nippon. “It is a formal offer with conditions. They want to acquire him in the summer.”
Despite being merely 22 years-old, Muto has already acquired 22 caps for Japan and was even part of the squad that competed at the recent Asian Cup in Australia.
However, the man himself is still undecided as to whether he would be making the move, though Muto did claim that he was honored to have received this offer.
“I have not decided yet at all,” he said. “It is an honour for me to receive this offer from a great club.”
