Perak have solved one major headache, with Datuk M. Karathu convinced that Jorginho James is the man to replace Chad Souza as their new foreign striker, though the experienced head coach remains on the hunt for a playmaker.
The Jamaican striker has been impressing in training sessions, and caught the eye during their friendly game against ATM, where he scored Perak’s only goal of the game to secure a 1-1 draw.
It now appears that the Seladangs are on the verge of completing a move for the ex-Harbour View forward, but they are yet to secure a playmaker to replace Marco Tulio.
“We have solved the our ‘forward problem’. Jorginho James is the best candidate to partner Namkung Woong upfront,” Karathu told Harian Metro.
“But now, we need to sign a playmaker, especially with the injury issues we’ve been facing in recent weeks. Nasir Basharuddin and Sukri Hamid are both out for the time being.
“In fact, we have a total of seven players out injured at the moment. Which is why I tried using some of our young players as well as individuals that haven’t been getting games, against ATM,” he added.
Perak will resume their Malaysia Super League campaign this weekend, with an away trip to take on league leaders, Felda United.
