Sebastian Vettel sent a massive warning to Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, after storming to victory in what was an exciting Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang.
Hamilton came into the race as the visibly favourite, having performed admirably in Australia, besides claiming pole position in the qualifying session yesterday. But Ferrari’s Vettel, was confident of triumphing, when he spoke to the press after the qualifying session, and he certainly did depict that exact confidence behind the wheels today.
The four-time World Champion clinched victory with a time of 1:41:05.793, with Hamilton finishing over 8 seconds behind him. Rosberg finished third, Raikkonen came in fourth with Valterri Bottas and Felipe Massa coming fifth and sixth in their Williams vehicle. More impressively, 17 year-old Max Verstappen finished seventh in only his second ever Formula One race.
But as far as this race is concerned, it was all Vettel’s and the man himself was delighted with his achievement.
“It’s been a while since I have been on the top step, it was my first time with Ferrari and I’m speechless. I am very happy,” he told reporters.
“This is a great achievement and we have a great car. Today is a very special day and will always remain a part of me. I want to celebrate today and get p***** tonight.”
