Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside has been given a one game suspension by NBA for elbowing Boston Celtic’s forward Kelly Olynyk during a match in which the Heats lost 90-100 to Celtics’ at the American Airlines Arena.
With 2 minutes and 45 seconds remaining on clock in the third quarter, Whiteside elbowed Olynk from behind, drawing a technical foul that was eventually converted into a Flagrant 2 foul.
“I feel terrible about it. It’s probably the worst 12 hours of my life,” Whiteside was quoted as saying. “It was such a far journey for me, and I feel like I took some steps back. I’m better than that,” he added.
This marks the second time that Whiteside had been ejected this season, having already been fined $40,000.
