Johor DT fans could be in for some excellent news after FIFA announced the suspension of Kuwait FA with immediate effect.
In a statement that was released on their website, FIFA said: “Today, 16 October 2015, the Kuwait Football Association (KFA) has been suspended with immediate effect. The suspension follows the decision of the FIFA Executive Committee during its meeting on 24 and 25 September to give until 15 October 2015 for changes to be made to the sports law of Kuwait.
“The suspension will be lifted only when the KFA and its members (the clubs) are able to carry out their activities and obligations independently.
Considering the ban also prevents any Kuwaiti football club from competing internationally, Al Qadsia SC would not be eligible to take on JDT in the second leg of their semi-final tie.
Qadsia won the first leg 3-1, and the second leg was scheduled to take place at the Larkin Stadium later this month. The suspension could however result in the match being forfeited, allowing JDT to become the first Malaysian side to progress into the AFC Cup final.
We are however, still awaiting official confirmation from the Asian Football Confederation on this matter.
More to come…
