Paris 2024 Olympics: Noah Lyles wins Men’s 100m sprint gold medal after dramatic finish

Noah Lyles beat Kishane Thompson in a nail-biting photo finish to win the gold medal in the men’s 100-meter sprint at the Olympics in Paris 2024 Olympics.

Lyles finished barely 0.05 seconds ahead of the Jamaican, despite not looking like he was in the running until a late sprint allowed him to cross the finish line in 9.79 seconds.

The American athlete began his quest for four medals at the Paris Olympics and set a personal best despite a delayed start to the event. For most of the race, Lyles’s fellow countryman Fred Kerley and silver medallist Thompson engaged in intense combat. Kerley finished with a time of 9.81.

In the fiercely competitive race, he edged off South Africa’s Akani Simbine to the finish line, with all eight contenders finishing within 0.12 seconds of Lyles.

After a spectacle of a light show in the build up and the scorching speed of the men on the track, it is safe to say the showcase event of the Olympics did not disappoint.
