After nine years at Manchester United, Anthony Martial has announced his departure from the team.
This summer, the Frenchman’s contract with Manchester United expires, and he will become a free agent.
The 28-year-old posted a statement on Instagram announcing his resignation, saying, “I write to you today to say goodbye with great emotion.” It’s time for me to start a new chapter in my career after nine amazing years with the club.”
“Manchester United will always be in my heart,” he continued. My career has been impacted by this club, which has also given me the amazing chance to perform in front of you.
“I’m leaving to take on new challenges, I’ll always be a Red Devil and I’ll continue to follow the club’s results with passion. Thank you again for everything, and see you soon.”
On December 9, 2023, Martial made his final appearance for Manchester United, losing 3-0 at home to Bournemouth.
Martial, who paid £36 million to join the team from Monaco in September 2015, leaves the team having won the FA Cup, the Europa League, and the Carabao Cup in addition to scoring 90 goals in 317 appearances across all competitions.
