After the Premier League season ended, Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea by mutual consent. The Argentine had only been with the team for one season.
After a protracted hiring procedure, Pochettino was named manager in May of last year. He took over for Frank Lampard, who had been brought in as interim manager after Graham Potter was fired in April 2023.
This comes as major shock to most viewers of the Premier League as Chelsea had just secured European football on the last day of the league, in what some would say have been a disappointing two years.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea will be looking for a younger manager, and there could be a few potential options.
Roberto De Zerbi is one of the candidates who comes to mind, with the Italian having left Brighton at the end of the season. Former Chelsea and Bayern manager, Thomas Tuchel may seem like a possible candidate as the German has been one of the few successful managers at Stamford Bridge in recent times alongside the likes of Antonio Conte.
As the familiar cloud of uncertainty looms over Stamford Bridge once again, we can only wait and watch to see who will take over the helm.
