Goals from Brereton Diaz, Cornet, Ward-Prowse and McBurnie wrap up classic Premier League encounter.
Cornet opened the scoring in the 28th minute after the ball sat up for Ings in the box, whose shot was deflected but fell kindly to the back post for Cornet, who made no mistake as he fired the Hammers into a 1-0 lead.
New signing Ben Brereton Diaz equalised for the Blades as Auston Trusty nodded a long ball into the box, Osula headed it towards goal but was saved by Areola however Brereton finished the deflection off to make it 1-1.
In the 79th minute, Gustavo Hamer made a rash challenge in bringing down Danny Ings in the box and James Ward-Prowse finished the resulting spot-kick.
The game would soon change in the 90th minute as substitute Rhian Brewster lunged into Emerson Palmieri and after a long VAR check, the red card was shown to him. However there was a clash between the two teams during the check which resulted in Vladimir Coufal of West Ham get a yellow card.
Just 4 minutes later Coufal would go on to receive his second yellow after he stopped a counter attack from James McAtee. This neutralised West Ham’s man advantage it would prove pivotal.
From the resulting free kick swung in, Areola seem to have taken out McBurnie as they both contested for the ball and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. The game was delayed for a while as Areola needed treatment.
Areola needed to be substituted and Fabianski cam on for the Hammers as he has a terrific penalty save percentage. As McBurnie and Fabianski stared off from the spot in the 103rd minute, the Scottish international took a deep breath before calmly converting the penalty into the bottom left corner.
The game seemed to be over but a controversial call from the referee Iain the last minute after Ahmedhodzic seemed to have wrestled Jarrod Bowen to the ground. It didn’t pique the ref or VAR’s interest and the game finished 2-2
