Yesterday the Asian Cup 2024 kicked off in spectacular fashion
Hosts Qatar played the first match against Lebanon which saw FIFA President, Gianni Infantino present at the Lusail Stadium. Infantino is known to have close relations with the Qatari royals after last year’s World Cup.
Akram Afif and Almoez Ali scored the goals which allowed Qatar to cruise to a 3-0 win over helpless Lebanon in a less than sold-out Lusail Stadium.
Australia too had a comfortable win as Jackson Irvine and Jordon Bos gave the Socceroos the win over a courageous India team in the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.
Elsewhere both China and Uzbekistan were held to goalless draws against Tajikistan and Syria respectively.
