Bayern hammer Hoffenheim with Musiala masterclass

German wonderkid Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane turned on the class to inspire a victory that closes the gap to one point on league leaders Bayer Leverkusen

Before the match, many emotional tributes were paid to former player and manager, Franz Beckenbauer. Players wore jackets which said “Danke Franz” and had the same message on the front of their jerseys.

Musiala had opened the scoring after an hour with a thunderous strike in an improbable angle which beat goalkeeper Baumann.

A short while later, Grischa Promel was sent off after making a late challenge on Mathys Tel which had everyone questioning whether it was a straight red or a second yellow. Either was Promel was sent for an early shower.

With Hoffenheim down to 10 men, it would surely mean the end of the contest and was made so when Harry Kane scored his 22nd goal in 16 Bundesliga games. With that strike, Kane managed to match the record for the most goals scored in the first half of the season, set by former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski.
