Terengganu’s Irfan Bakti reveals how he prepared his team ahead of JDT clash

Terengganu’s head coach Irfan Bakti is happy with Terengganu’s positive start to their Piala Malaysia 2017 campaign.

Just two days ago, the Turtles held Super League outfit Selangor 1-1 during the first round of Piala Malaysia fixtures.

Tonight, they will face reigning Super League champions, Johor Darul Ta’zim, at the Stadium Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah, and they are anything but shaken.

Instead, head coach Irfan Bakti even told the media that they are more excited than intimidated.

“We are not nervous about facing JDT tonight. We’re actually excited to be up against a team that is the strongest in the M.League, and have lifted the AFC Cup.” Irfan Bakti told Harian Metro.

On Tuesday, JDT defeated Sarawak 4-0 during the first round of Piala Malaysia fixtures.

“Of course it won’t be easy to face JDT, even though we have home advantage. But I have worked out some tactics to make sure we put up a good fight. I have analysed JDT’s style through videos.”

“Apart from that, I have also spoken to a few coaches about JDT’s game play to get different input. So I think we’re prepared.”

Irfan Bakti added that Terengganu will try their very best to bag three points tonight, even though he is aware that the last time they met JDT, the Southern Tigers clinched the win.

“I think if all my players follow the plan, give their best, it is not impossible to defeat JDT.” the coach added.

The Terengganu head coach also urged fans to fill up the stadium to provide support and encouragement to the team.

Terengganu vs Johor Darul Ta’zim will be happening tonight at 9pm.
