In conjunction with the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games, the Torch Run has been touring all over the country from the 14th of May 2017.
This week, the Torch made its way to the Pearl of the Orient, the state of Penang. The Torch Run will be gracing Penang from the 3rd of July until the 6th of July.
To commemorate the torch run in Penang, six swimmers, led by Inspector Adni Shaari, swam across the Penang straits; from Pulau Jerejak, all the way to the marine police base, spanning 3.5 kilometres.
The started swimming from 6.30 in the morning, and arrived at the marine police jetty in Batu Uban about 8.45 am.
The Torch Run is expected to end on 12th of August, when the torch will return to Kuala Lumpur.
The Torch will be presented again on the 19th of August at the opening ceremony of the SEA Games to mark the commencement 29th SEA Games.
The torch will remain lit until the closing ceremony, where it will then be put out to mark the end of the SEA Games.
