Malaysian football fans were handed a heartbreaking news earlier today after it was confirmed that legendary ex-Perak and Malaysian national team boss Karl-Heinz Weigang had passed away in Germany.
Weigang, who famously led Malaysia past the qualifying stages for the 1980 Olympic Games, only recently left the country after mutually terminating his contract with Perak FA in February 2017.
His final game in charge of the Seladangs was a momentous 2-1 win over reigning league champions Johor DT – precisely why fans were left baffled by his unceremonius departure from the club. In his last few days in Ipoh, Weigang spent some time with local football fans and delivered his parting advice via a video clip that was uploaded on YouTube not too long after that.
Rest in peace, Atuk. 🙁
What’s your favourite memory of Karl-Heinz Weigang?
