Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) have confirmed that local cyclist Azizulhasni Awang will take part in keirin and sprint events during the upcoming Southeast Asian Games.
MNCF vice president Omar Saad announced this decision after attending a National Olympic Council (MOM) meeting yesterday based on national coach John Beasley’s evaluations.
“Initially, Azizulhasni was supposed to take part in one event, but after careful considerations from John Beasley, he will take part in two events,” Omar said as quoted by Berita Harian.
Azizulhasni Awang made history and Malaysia proud after winning the gold medal in the keirin event at the 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong in April.
Moreover, Omar Saad also stated that national sprint queen Fatehah Mustapha will be the one to watch because she was listed to take part in four events in the upcoming competition.
