Back in May, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said in an exclusive interview that Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will be signing a player from Spain to further bolster their squad.
“The player is a midfielder and he is from Spain.” Tunku Ismail said vaguely.
The player from Spain has turned out to be Ignacio ‘Natxo’ Insa Bohigues from Levante in the Segunda Division in Spain. Natxo Insa is also the brother of Pahang’s Kiko Insa.
Natxo Insa started his career at the Valencia academy and has helped Levante qualified for La Liga. Over the years, he has also played for Villarreal CF, Celta Vigo and Real Zaragoza.
With the signing of the 30-year-old midfielder, JDT is looking at the possible combination of Insa-Safiq-Hariss to strengthen their midfield in the future.
In addition to that, JDT also noted that no import players will be dropped at the moment, and that Hariss Harun will be back with JDT in 2018.
There is also the possibility of neutralizing Natxo Insa as a Malaysian, since his brother Kiko managed to obtain his Malaysian citizenship through his grandmother who was born in Sabah.
