This EPL club wanted to sign Bako before he chose Kelantan

New Kelantan signing Abou Bakr Al-Mel has revealed that he turned down an offer to join English Premier League (EPL) side West Ham United to join The Red Warriors this season.

According to the Lebanese striker, he also rejected offers to join clubs from Saudi Arabia.

The 25 year-old has admitted that he chose Kelantan as his destination because of things he heard from fellow countryman and Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) forward Mohammed Ghaddar.

“He (Ghaddar) told me a lot of good memories he gained during his time Kelantan, and the moment they offered me to play for them, I could not refuse.” Bako said as quoted by Utusan.

“I am hoping to perform at the highest level in the second half of the Malaysia Super League (MSL) campaign to ensure that the Kelantan team gain as many victories as possible.

Abou Bakr Al-Mel, or more commonly known to as Bako, was the top goalscorer in the Lebanese Premier League this season after scoring 16 goals in 20 games for Tripoli SC.

Bako is tipped to make his first start for Kelantan against Penang on May 24. We sure can’t wait to see him in action!
