Melaka United this morning announced the signing of Macedonian defender Jasmin Mecinovic in efforts to bolster the squad.
Mecinovic inked a one-year deal with Melaka United, and will start featuring for the team in the second half of the season.
Apart from Mecinovic, Melaka United will also be testing a few other local and international players to see if they can fit into the team.
Melaka’s team manager Datuk Wira Mohd. Yusoff Mahadi confirmed that Felipe Almeida De Souza, a midfielder from Brazil, will attend a trial this week and it’s up to head coach, Eric Williams to make an evaluation before getting his services.
Datuk Wira Mohd. Yusoff Mahadi also confirmed that as of now, their existing import players like Ilija Spasojević and Jeon Woo Young will stay on in the team.
Apart from that, Melaka United will also be testing two naturalized players from JDT II. Nicolas Ryan Swirad and Jordan Yong will train with the Melaka United team, and could be snapped up should they make a strong impression.
Melaka United is currently at 10th place with 11 points, sitting dangerously close to the relegation zone. They have not won any of their last five Super League matches.
Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi expressed his frustration early in April and warned that Melaka might consider dropping all four of their import players, including their head coach, Eric Williams, if things do not improve.
