Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) forward Gabriel Guerra has asked his teammates to put in a little more effort in order to earn a comfortable victory during their AFC Cup (ASEAN zonal) semi-final first leg match against Philippines’ Ceres-Negros at the Larkin Stadium tonight.
The Argentinian was insistent that a victory for The Southern Tigers would be extremely vital before travelling to the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City for the return leg on May 31.
“We have to win because it will help us in the next game,” he said as quoted by Berita Harian.
“We started preparing for this game after the match against Melaka United, and our preparations have been going well. I am positive that the hard work that we, as a team, gave during training sessions will result in a positive outcome for the match tonight.
“I will probably be tightly marked during the game, but I will do my best to score goals.”
Gabriel Guerra is seen to be hitting his form after grabbing a hat-trick in the last Group F match against Magwe FC. He is currently the joint-top goalscorer in the competition with seven goals to his name alongside Ceres-Negros Spanish forward Bienvenido Maranon.
