Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) are looking to further bolster their squad for the second half of the season during this mid-season transfer window with the inclusion of a player from Spain.
The Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, was interviewed earlier today and he mentioned that the club is looking to win titles this season by strengthening their squad.
Tunku Ismail was asked about the signing of Mohammed Ghaddar and how big of an impact the Lebanese forward will have on The Southern Tigers after the season resumes later this month. On top of that, he also mentioned that his “most expensive player” price tag is justifiable because he knows the Malaysian game and has scored 18 goals this season.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president also added that on top of the Mohammed Ghaddar signing, the club has signed a midfielder from Spain.
“We have also signed another player this mid-transfer window that I will announce soon”, Tunku Ismail said in the interview on the Johor Southern Tigers’ Facebook page.
“The player is a midfielder and he is from Spain,” Tunku Ismail concluded.
Who do we think it is?
In February, Tunku Ismail was reportedly telling Johor DT’s supporters after their Malaysia Super League (MSL) match against Selangor that the club have set their sights on signing Spanish midfielder Ignacio Insa from Levante in the Segunda Division in Spain. Did you know that Ignacio Insa (commonly known as Natxo Insa) is the brother of Pahang player Kiko Insa? Kiko Insa obtained his Malaysian citizenship through his grandmother, who was born in Sabah. We think that the signing of Natxo Insa will not only bolster The Southern Tigers’ squad for the rest of the season, but it would allow the club to have five foreign players, if they manage to naturalize Natxo Insa as a Malaysian.
