Looks like we finally have an answer on the Andik Vermansyah dilemma.
Selangor’s head coach P. Maniam has confirmed that Andik Vermansyah is indeed making a comeback to the squad in the second half of the season.
According to P. Maniam, Andik has been showing positive signs of improvement and he’s been performing really well during training, which means he’s ready to start for Selangor again.
Andik picked up an injury last year during the AFF Suzuki Cup tournament, and has been fighting to recover ever since. His spot in the squad has been replaced by a temporary signing, Juliano Mineiro.
“Things are looking good. Andik has shown a lot of improvement during training sessions.” Sinai Harian quoted P. Maniam as saying.
“At the rate that this is going, I think he will be ready to start for Selangor very soon.” he added.
Juliano Mineiro was signed in January on a six-month contract, which means his stint in Selangor will be ending in June. That gives just enough time for Andik to complete his rehabilitation process and get back into the squad.
However, in February, Andik told FootballTribe.com that he’s ready to go back to Persebaya after his contract with Selangor ends in October.
“I have a good relationship with Persebaya. I’m in touch with the president. I want to go back, but I also know I have honour my contract with Selangor.”
If Andik Vermansyah stays on in Selangor, one of the other import players will have to go. As of now, it is not clear if Andik himself would like to extend his contract with Selangor, should me make it back into the squad, or if he still wants to go to Persebaya.
Coach P. Maniam added that he has yet to discuss with the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) on who is leaving and who is staying. However, he did confirm that FAS will not be buying any new import player for the second half of the season.
