Dayang Nurfaizah will sing official SEA Games song, but it has no lyrics yet

Every four years, we look forward to the new world cup song and more importantly, who will be singing it. Be it Ricky Martin or Shakira, the spirit for the game is heightened with the right choice of voice for the theme song.

With only a 100 days left to go for the 29th SEA Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games, we needed someone to give life to the official SEA Games song when it is ready.

The honour has been given to none other than Malaysia’s top pop and R&B singer, Dayang Nurfaizah binti Awang Dowty, or Dayang Nurfaizah, as she is fondly known.

Dayang is one Malaysia’s prominent singers, and she has been actively singing since 1996. Dayang is best known for hits like Hakikat Cinta, Kembalilah Sayang, Rindu, Seandainya Masih Ada Cinta, and Sekali Lagi.

However, the song is yet to be named, and is being referred to as #LaguKL2017 as of now. Also, it doesn’t have lyrics just yet.

Youth and Sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin has called for the public to contribute lyrics for the #LaguKL2017, so everyone gets to play their part in making the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games a memorable event.

“We’re in the final stages of preparing for the 2017 SEA Games, and in the midst of everything, I kind of forgot about lyrics for the song. So I’d like make a request to the public – please submit lyrics for the official SEA Games song.” BHarian quoted the minister as saying.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s a few lines or a few words, just give us your ideas. It’s best that the lyrics come from the people, because the 2017 SEA Games is for you.” the minister added.

The song will be put together by top Malaysian composer, Datuk Ramli MS.

Anyone out there wants to volunteer? Just type your lyrics and use the hashtag #LaguKL2017. And don’t forget to tag @KhairyKJ!
