Kedah Youth and Sports Committee president Datuk Aminuddin Omar has rubbished rumours linking star midfielder Liridon Krasniqi with a move down south to Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT).
Aminuddin Omar was baffled at how quickly the rumours spread across the country despite not a single discussion between Kedah Football Association and Johor Football Association.
According to the politician, the rumours could potentially cause more damage than it should have because it would disrupt Kedah’s preparations for their Malaysia Super League (MSL) clash against Perak tonight and FA Cup semi-final match against Terengganu next week.
“I am sorry to disappoint, but the rumours you have heard about Liridon leaving are not true as he has a contract with us until next year,” Aminuddin said as quoted by Sinar Harian.
“Liridon has ensured his commitment to the team and wants to seek more glory with Kedah.
Kedah is currently not going through a good run of games and have had their focus affected in the past few weeks after suffering a 5-0 humiliation at the hands of T-Team, a 1-0 loss to Malaysia Premier League side PKNP in the FA Cup quarter final. In addition, the team is currently looking for a head coach to replace Tan Cheng Hoe as he is off to the national team.
“We have three candidates for the role and KFA is in talks with them,” Aminuddin concluded.
Kedah face Perak at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh at 9pm tonight.
