McDonald’s Malaysia has inked a sponsorship deal as a silver sponsor with the 29th SEA Games and 9th ASEAN Para Games.
In addition to that, McDonald’s Malaysia is also the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games’ and Para Games’ official restaurant.
The deal was signed this morning by MASOC (Malaysian Organising Committee)’s CEO, YBhg Dato’ Seri Zolkpes Embong and En Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director (Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia), in the presence of Youth and Sports minister, Khairy Jamaluddin.
McDonald’s sponsorship is over RM 1 million sponsorship in cash and in-kind. This partnership is also to demonstrate McDonald’s efforts to support the growth of sports in Malaysia.
In addition to that, three McDonald’s restaurants in Johor, Penang and Putrajaya will serve as pit stops for the Torch Run.
“McDonald’s is extremely proud to be a part of this momentous event and we look forward to doing our bit in helping to raise the spirit of ‘Bangkit Bersama’.” said En Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia.
“We especially look forward to welcoming all Malaysians at our restaurant pit stops to express support for our athletes and the Games.” he added.
According to Youth and Sports minister, YB Khairy Jamaluddin, MASOC is very pleased to welcome participation from a globally-known company like McDonald’s.
“I believe that this sponsorship will not only allow McDonald’s to further strengthen its branding in the Southeast Asia region, but to utilize this strength to unite Malaysians just as it does through its food products.” the minister said after witnessing the signing ceremony.
The 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games will take place on 19th to 30th August 2017, while the Para Games will take place from 17th to 23rd September 2017.
