Negeri Sembilan (NS) held on their 1-0 lead from the 1st leg to draw 0-0 at home to Sabah in the FA Cup.
However, they were poor in the first half as they were sloppy in possession while Sabah, under a new head coach, were more composed with the ball. Although Masaya Jitozono could’ve tied the game up as early in the 2nd minute when he hit the post from a tight angle.
Despite Sabah having most of the ball to frustrate NS, they couldn’t conjure another great chance in the 1st half and NS wasted more possession whenever they have the ball as the half went on.
When the 2nd half began, Sabah continued where they left off and attacked the NS half. But, NS was more livelier as time went on as they threaten the Sabah box.
But, the chances made were to be a running theme throughout the match as Marko Simic, Nemanja Vidic, Khairul Anwar and Noor Hazrul all hitting the woodwork, much to the disbelief of the home crowd.
However, NS were thankful Sabah was blunt when penetrating the final third as they held on to goalless draw with Simic’s goal from the 1st leg proving decisive. Their reward? A match with either Super League giants Pahang or Johor Darul Takzim in the semi-finals.
