It won’t be easy to find Cheng Hoe’s replacement – Azraai Khor

Looks like someone is dropping a hint!

One of Malaysia’s most successful coach, Azraai Khor, has spoken up about Kedah’s head coach dilemma.

Kedah is currently in a limbo as their head coach Tan Cheng Hoe has tendered his resignation letter to the Kedah football Association (KFA) — after being earmarked by Mario Gomez to assist him with the national squad.

Although KFA president confirmed that they did receive Tan Cheng Hoe’s resignation letter on the 1st of April, he made it clear that it doesn’t mean that they accept it.

The president stressed that so long as there is no official offer letter from the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Tan Cheng Hoe will remain as Kedah’s head coach, as per his contract.

Former national player and coach Azraai Khor hopes that this dilemma will not affect Kedah’s performance for the rest of the season. The Red Eagles are currently soaring high on top of the Super League table with 18 points.

“I think both the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and KFA need to meet and resolve this matter immediately.” Azraai Khor told Berita Harian. “A problem like this should not be prolonged.”

Azraai Khor, whose illustrious career involves winning the domestic treble with Kedah in 2007 and 2008, added that it won’t be easy to find Tan Cheng Hoe’s replacement. Tan Cheng Hoe is deemed to be one of Malaysia’s finest local coach, and he works his magic with his own philosophy and strategies.

“Tan Cheng Hoe has led Kedah to many trophies, and it definitely won’t be easy for Kedah to find a replacement.” said Azraai, who also once coached other clubs like Kelantan, T-Team, Perak, and Sabah.

“However, I support Cheng Hoe’s philosophy and methods. His methods have been instilled in every Kedah player, and it should by carried on by whoever comes in next as head coach.”

“I’m sure KFA will be able to assess the potential candidates for head coach, and select the one with sufficient experience to take the job.” Azraai added.

Despite the ongoing drama about Malaysia’s next national head coach, FAM has urged Tan Cheng Hoe to stay in Kedah and complete pending his duties before getting onboard FAM. So we’ll see, Azraai!
