FAM confirms sacking of 20 staff in revamp efforts

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has announced that the services of at least 20 technical and administrative staff will be terminated by the 6th of April.

The 20 staff are inclusive of coaches and officials from the U-23 squad, and some from the administration department of FAM.

This move was made in line with the restructuring efforts by FAM’s new President, Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, after deliberating with FAM’s exco members who all conceded to the decision.

FAM stated that the main objective of this move is to manage and control the association’s finances. Tunku Ismail has mentioned that managing FAM’s funds is his main priority as president, and he will see that FAM practises prudent spending and transparency.

The 20 administration and technical staff will be terminated of their services to ensure that the organisation meets its intended direction.

The statement also assured everyone that the staff involved in the termination have been informed today with notice, and all of them will receive their 3-month salary by 15th of April.

Dato’ Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin also noted that every unit and branches in FAM will be uniformed and combined based on the set organisation.

This is the second shocking statement made of FAM’s official Facebook page today by Dato’ Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin, Secretary-General of the FAM.

Prior to this post, the Secretary-General announced that the national squad will no longer be known as “Harimau Malaysia”, but will go back to being known as “Harimau Malaya” due to relentless requests from the fans.

FAM has been going through a massive shake-up ever since Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim was sworn in as president on the 25th of March 2017.
