The change of name was decided by the President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, after unceasing requests from Malaysian football fans.
Local football fans requested for the former name to be reinstated to reflect the historic moments created by the national team during its glory days.
The statement on the Facebook page also noted that the official Harimau Malaysia website will be shut down immediately. For all the latest info about Malaysian football, fans can visit the FAM’s official website.
