Malaysia’s Azroy Wafie has bagged gold at the Australian Open International Weightlifting Championships 2017.
Malaysia’s lifter Azroy Wafie participated in the 56 kg category, where he lifted a total of 238 kg to emerge overall champion.
Azroy’s fellow compatriot Muhammad Zaidi finished second in the 62 kg category, where he soldiered though 261 kg to bag a silver medal and do the country proud.
The Australian Open Weightlifting Championships is currently taking place in Melbourne at the Victorian Weightlifting Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
The tournament, which is happening from March 17 to March 19, will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the Commonwealth Games which would be held in Gold Coast, Australia in April 2018.
