#2017SwissOpen: Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei make amends for early exit at All England

Malaysia’s womens’ doubles team crashed out early in the All England tournament earlier this month.

The duo had to bid farewell to their All England campaign as they lost 1-2 to Korea’s Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan. Although the Malaysian pair dominated the first round and won 17-21, Korea’s Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan retaliated and defeated them in the next two.

But Vivian Hoo and her partner Woon Khe Wei are making amends for that in the 2017 Swiss Open Tournament. The pair were relentless last night as they fought hard to sink Taipei’s Chiang Kai Hsin – Hung Shih Han 21-17, 21-12.

Their hard work paid off and the Malaysian duo are through to the qurter-finals.

In the quarter finals, Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei will be going up against Denmark’s Maiken Fruergaard and Sara Thygesen who are ranked 7 in the world.

Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei enjoyed a similar success last year when they made it to the quarter finals of the 2016 Swiss Open, after demolishing their English opponent Heather Olver and Lauren Smith 21-14, 19-21, 21-16.
Vivian Hoo and Woon Khei Wei are also the only Malaysians left in the 2017 Swiss Open. The Swiss Open is currently happening at St. Jakobshalle from the 14th March until 19th of March, where participants from all over the world are competing for the grand prize of USD 120,000.
