Out of German Open, on to All-England
Malaysia’s promising duo, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing crashed out of the German open on Sunday.
Kian Meng-Pei Jing were the last Malaysian pair battling it out at the German Open after Malaysia’s No. 1 duo Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying got eliminated in Friday’s quarter-finals.
Kian Meng-Pei Jing were caught in a tough battle with China’s Lu Kai-Huang Yaqiong. Although they started off well, the Chinese pair eventually got the best of them and defeated the pair 21-16, 16-21, 17-21 to advance to the next round.
We’ve gained our momentum back! – Pei Jing
However, the duo refused to dwell on the setback; they’re going to focus on the All-England championship instead. The All-England badminton championship will take place in Birmingham starting 7th of March until 12th of March 2017.
“The match against the Chinese pair was very tough, but it was one of our best games since emerging as champions at the Malaysia Masters in January.” 24-year-old Pei Jing told Arena Metro.
“We finally gained our momentum back, even though we won the first two rounds mostly because of luck. It seemed like we won only because the other teams were not as good, and we took advantage of that.” Pei Jing admitted.
It is Kian Meng’s first All-England appearance
Pei Jing noted that they will carry on this momentum to ace All-England, even though they willl not be getting their hopes up, since this will be Kian Meng’s maiden appearance in the All-England tournament.
“We are not expecting too much from All-England. What we’re going to do is focus on very one, give it our best, and make the most of out it since it’s Kian Meng’s first time.”
Kian Meng-Pei Jing will be facing Hong Kong’s Tan Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet in their first All-England round. All the best to the pair!
