Team Bardiani CSF’s Enrico Barbin has clinched victory in the Stage 6 of Le Tour de Langkawi 2017 today.
Enrico Barbin outclassed Isowhey Sports Swisswellness’ Anthony Giacoppo and Wilier Triestina’s Filippo Pozzato to finish first at the end of the Senawang-Muar route, which covered a distance of 176.3 km.
Enrico Barbin registered 4:09.16s to secure the Bardiani CSF team’s first win this year. It is also the team’s first win at Le Tour de Langkawi, since Marco Canola won in Kuantan back in 2012.
However, it is team Dimension Data’s Ryan Gibbons who remains in the lead of the general classification and the points competition, which means he retains his yellow jersey. With only two more races to go, Gibbons is currently 23 seconds ahead of Cameron Bayly, who is perched at second place in the general classification table.
Close behind is Wilier Triestina’s Alberto Cecchin, who is at third place and 27 seconds behind Gibbons.
John Ebsen of Infinite AIS Cycling Team continues to reign as the “King of Mountain”. Ebsen retains his polka dot jersey which he won in Stage 2 at the end of the Jerteh-Gerik race.
The 28-year-old lad from Denmark is also leading the Mountains Competition with 35 points, 10 points clear on top Stage 4 winner Mekseb Debesay, who is trailing behind with 25 points.
Nippo-Vini Fantini’s Hideto Nakane strips Yvgeniy Vino Gidich off the white jersey as Nakane is the new leader of the Best Asian Rider competition.
Stage 7 of Le Tour de Langkawi will take place tomorrow (28 February), from Melaka to Rembau, covering 148.1km.
