Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal was only sworn in as Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president yesterday, and although the decision was not well received by Selangor fans, he’s already down to business.
It’s Kelantan v Selangor this week!
Prepping for match week 6, Datuk Subahan has urged Selangor players not to underestimate Kelantan FA when they make the trip to Kota Bahru this weekend.
Selangor will be facing Kelantan in this week’s Super League fixture at the Stadium Sultan Mohamad IV, Kota Bahru.
Although Kelantan is currently at eight place and have suffered two consecutive losses to Melaka and Kedah, Datuk Subahan thinks that they might just stage a comeback this week and defeat Selangor, especially since they are playing at home.
Where do the teams stand in the MSL table?
Selangor currently sits at fourth place with eight points, having played five games this season. They defeated Felda United 3-1 just last week (17 February) at the Stadium Majlis Perbandaran, Selayang, so they’re fresh from victory and armed with confidence.
Kelantan, on the other hand, are perched at eight place with six points, but they have only played four games this season. They endured a 0-1 loss to Kedah last week (18th of February) and suffered a 2-0 defeat to Melaka United earlier this week (21 February).
Zahasmi Ismail’s squad will be looking to make amends for their poor performance over the last couple of weeks and determined to turn things around this weekend.
Don’t underestimate KAFA
“Although we won against Felda last week, I don’t want Selangor to underestimate Zahasmi Ismail’s boys. I hope Selangor players will go in for a do-or-die clash, because we really have to win this game against Kelantan.” Datuk Subahan told Berita Harian.
According to Datuk Subahan, it is also important for Selangor to bag the three points to secure their top four position in the Super League table. After Kelantan, Selangor’s next bout will be against Kedah, a daunting task for P. Maniam’s boys.
Kedah has not lost any games this season; they have won three out of five games played, and drew the other two matches. A win this week might also help to boost Selangor’s confidence ahead of the Selangor v Kedah clash.
