Ex-Pahang skipper signs for League One outfit Gillingham FC

Former Pahang skipper Zesh Rehman has officially signed a short-term deal with League One side Gillingham FC.

BACK IN COMPETITIVE FOOTBALL

The Pakistani international had been without a club since he left Pahang FA in June 2016, but it appears that he’s back in competitive football after the news was confirmed on his Instagram account earlier today.

“Delighted to have signed for Gillingham FC. Having clocked up 200 games over the last 6 years in Asia its great to be back in England, plying my trade in the home of football. My experiences abroad have broadened my horizons & allowed me to establish a good network of contacts. I had several interesting options abroad and in the UK but felt it was the right stage of my career to come back home,” Rehman said.

SHORT-TERM DEAL

According to details published on Gillingham’s official website, Zesh has signed a contract with them till the end of the season and will wear the number 31 shirt.

“As everybody knows, I’ve been after an experienced centre-back for a few weeks and I’m very pleased to get Zesh on board. He’ll give us his experience and brings with him great knowledge of this division,” Gillingham boss Adrain Penncock told the club’s official website.

He is expected to be available for selection ahead of their clash against Southend United this weekend, provided he receives the necessary international clearance by then.
