With only about a month and three days to go for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) elections, both candidates vying for president are making their voices and promises heard.
Tan Sri Annuar Musa vs TMJ
For the 2017 FAM president post, former Kelantan FA (KAFA) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa will be going up against Johor’s crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, or TMJ, as he is fondly known.
The election will take place on the 25th of March, and board members will vote for a new president, as well as other committee members who will helm FAM starting from 2017 until 2021.
No “herding” under Tan Sri Annuar Musa
One of the candidate for president of FAM, who is also former Kelantan FA (KAFA) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa, has made a pledge to end the “herding” mentality if he gets selected as president.
Tan Sri Annuar Musa has stressed that under his presidency, everyone would work together as a team for the sake of football development in the country. He also added that he has no problems working with anybody, and will have no preconceived notions about any party who decide to work with FAM in the future.
“My main mission is to bring harmony into FAM. I also want my leadership to reflect teamwork and mutual respect among all committee members.”
“I will not tolerate anyone who practice the herding mentality. FAM needs a cooperative working environment and we want everyone to work closely with each other. It will reflect very badly on FAM if we fight amongst ourselves. We need to remain calm and respect each other.”
“I will not resort to bribes or blackmails. I believe everyone is capable of making the right decision and they can decide what kind of leadership pattern they want in FAM.”
Tan Sri Annuar Musa’s Facebook status possibly came in retaliation of Datuk Yusoff Mahadi’s statement saying “Don’t vote for me if you’re not voting for TMJ”. Datuk Yusoff Mahadi is running for the post of deputy president, alongside Dato’ Sri Afandi Hamzah.
