Laying the foundation to his Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) presidency campaign, the Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has been keeping himself busy with numerous appointments this week.
Who has TMJ met so far?
The Crown Prince recently met up with former FAM president, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah in order to get a clearer picture of what’s going on behind closed doors in FAM. The Crown Prince and Tengku Abdullah deliberated about the focus of FAM, the new direction, and what are possible changes that can be made to the governing body.
Apart from that, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim also had a meeting with YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Kuala Lumpur. According to the Johor Southern Tigers’ Facebook page, the two of them discussed about political and economic issues, and, most importantly, the direction of Malaysian football.
The Crown Prince has also scheduled several other appointments this week, including a meeting with the FAM Exco members, the referees association, and also with the fans of Harimau Malaysia.
Meeting with local football fans… today!
The meeting with local football supporters will be happening today (22nd February) at at the Ballroom of Hotel Grand Hyatt at 4:30pm. The Crown Prince has called for all football supporters to attend the meeting, share opinions and pose questions for the sake of local football development.
“The only reason I’m doing this is because I have support from the Malaysia football fans who believe that I can make a change.” the Crown Prince said. “Johor Darul Ta’zim is where my heart is. Helping to revamp FAM is my way of giving back to football fans in the country.” he added.
About a month more to go…
Tunku Ismail will go head-to-head against former Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) president, Tan Sri Annuar Musa for the post of FAM President.
The election will be happening on the 25th of March, where board members will vote for a new president and a new committee board. The new president and committee members will be in charge of FAM from 2017 until 2021.
