Datuk Yusoff Mahadi, a candidate for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Deputy President role, has told affiliates to not vote for him if Tan Sri Annuar Musa is their pick for the top job at FAM.
Who is Datuk Yusoff Mahadi?
Datuk Yusoff Mahadi is the chairman of the Melaka Stadium Corporation. He is also the team manager for Melaka United since November 2013 where he was one of the people who oversaw the team’s journey back to the Super League by winning the Premier League, ending Melaka’s 33-year trophy drought.
He was nominated for the FAM Deputy President post by numerous state football associations according to mStar.
Why doesn’t he want to work with Tan Sri Annuar Musa?
According to various Malay newspapers, Yusoff would rather work with individuals who he finds comfortable like Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
“I’m more interested working with individuals who I find pleasant like TMJ. This is because I have sat with him face-to-face and understood the changes he wants to bring in,” explained Yusoff.
“With Annuar Musa though, we have never sat down and discussed. I don’t know what kind of changes he wants to bring to the FAM. I’m worried that we can’t work together as a team and conflicts will arise if both of us get picked,”
TSAM has had his say
Something to note is that Annuar Musa has responded to Yusoff’s comments by saying he is willing to work with anyone and focuses on bringing harmony in his latest Facebook post.
Considering how much TMJ and Yusoff have developed their respective state teams, they can be considered a good pair and can steer Malaysian football back on track.
All eyes are now on the 53rd FAM Congress on 25 March. If both Annuar and Yusoff get chosen for their respective posts, they have to work together somehow to bring harmony and redevelop Malaysia football.
