It’s confirmed: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT)’s midfielder Hariss Harun will be leaving the club on a year-long loan to Spain.
According to the official announcement on JDT’s Facebook page, the 26-year Singaporean will be playing for Spain’s second division club, Ce L’Hopitalet to “gain experience and improve the quality of his game”.
Hariss’ future with JDT was uncertain after he was unable to return to the Singapore league, and the signing of Brian Ferreira further complicated the situation as Ferreira filled up the Asian quota. Ferreira has both Argentinian and Iraqi citizenship.
It almost got to point where Hariss had to consider the prospect of not playing competitive football at all this year. Fortunately, JDT managed to find a club to take the central midfielder on a loan.
Hariss, who is also Singapore national team’s vice captain, will make a return to JDT in 2018 when the M-League will allow up to five foreign players in a team.
