Shebby Singh picks TMJ for FAM President, not Khairy

Football critic and pundit Shebby Singh feels that the Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) Tunku Ismail Tunku Ibrahim is the most qualified out of all the FAM president candidates.

Shebby said that it is because of how TMJ has developed Johor football to new heights, citing Johor Darul Takzim’s (JDT) 2015 AFC Cup success as the main highlight — to justify his opinion that TMJ should be the next FAM president.

However, Shebby feels that the competition is tight for the FAM presidency as TMJ faces tough competition from Youth & Sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, Kelantan FA advisor and ex-president Tan Sri Annuar Musa, and the FAM Integrity Committee Chairman Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat.

“The competition for the president’s post is intense; all four candidates have a good background in running a football organization. However, out of those four candidates, TMJ is the most qualified, compared to others,” Shebby told Hairan Metro.

“It’s not only because of JDT’s success in various domestic championships and in Asia, but TMJ changed the management and prepared a convenient training centre along with a modern stadium that gives comfort to the players and fans,” he added.

The next FAM president will be chosen during the 53rd FAM Congress on the 25th of March.
