“No Safee, no problem” – PKNS FC boss E. Elavarasan

Safee Sali was the breath of fresh air that a newly-promoted PKNS FC needed for the 2017 Super League season.

Having won seven trophies with his former club, Johor Darul Ta’zim FC, Safee adds both experience and attacking options for PKNS FC, giving them more confidence to take on big teams.

However, it turns out Safee can never help his current club take on the southern Tigers. This is due to a clause in his contract that prevents him from playing against his former club.

PKNS FC is scheduled to play against Johor Darul Ta’zim on 15th of April, Stadium Shah Alam. They also have an away fixture at the Larkin stadium on the 26th of April.

Unfortunately for PKNS FC, they will not have the veteran striker in the squad for both games. This is a huge setback, considering that Safee is prolific striker. He has scored 16 goals in 38 appearances during his time with the Southern Tigers.

Coach Elvarasan, although disillusioned, told Nadi Arena that he has other tactical measures to make up for Safee’s absence.

“If that’s the deal, then that’s the deal. Prior to this, we also didn’t allow our loaned players to play against us.”

Safee, on the other hand, is more focused on securing a place in the starting XI for other matches.

“I definitely do not want to cause troubles with my former team. Whatever the bosses say, I will oblige.” the 32-year old striker said.

“Whatever the decision, I will remain professional and keep working hard to secure my spot in the starting XI.”
