It’s real. It’s damn real.
1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle officially becomes the first inductee into the WWE 2017 Hall of Fame.
This will mark Angle’s return to the WWE nearly 11 years after he was released.
Fans greeted the news of Angle’s induction with cheers and the infamous ‘You Suck’ chants during his time in the WWE during the latest Monday Night Raw episode.
While Angle spent over half of his pro-wrestling career with Total Non-Stop (TNA) Wrestling and other wrestling promotions, he will be fondly remembered for his run in the WWE that started from 1999 where he was a four-time WWE Champion.
“I was shocked. I’ve been out of WWE for a long time and out of touch with them so I didn’t really expect this. It’s a huge honor. This is the only Hall of Fame that I’m not in and probably [the one] I want to be in the most. This is the one that means the most for me. I had a lot of fun entertaining the fans for seven years with WWE, and I’m glad that my hard work paid off,” Angle told ESPN.
Angle found out about his induction from Triple H, the WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative who said that the WWE ‘never forgot’ about Angle and his contributions to the company.
The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will be on 31 March, two days before Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando, Florida.
