The Pacman decided to make a return to the ring and he immediately bagged the WBO welterweight title before a wild crowd.
Manny Pacquiao took on America’s Jessie Vargas and victoriously claimed the title after a 114-113, 118-109 and 118-109 score from the judges.
What made the event more interesting was that his arch-nemesis, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was spotted at the ringside seat together with his daughter. After the match, Mayweather was also seen giving a thumbs up to Pacquaio.
Mayweather defeated Pacquaio in one of the most iconic matches back in 2015. It was also known as the ‘fight of the century’.
“I invited him to be here tonight,” Pacquiao confessed. When asked if the two could meet again, he replied: “We’ll see.”
27-year old Vargas described the match with Pacquiao as a ‘very fast game of chess’, adding that he had to be alert at all times, as there were a lot of punches coming in.
“He has tremendous speed. Fighting Pacquiao only elevated my game, and it makes me better.” he added.
Pacquaio, also serving as the current Senator of the Philippines announced his retirement from boxing back in April. But it looks like he can’t spend too much time away from the love of his life!
