National Football Development Programme (NFDP) project director Lim Teong Kim does not want his squad to cover the cost for the upcoming Iber Cup in Portugal at the end of June.
The ex-Bayern Munich youth team coach feels that his players do not receive the recognition they deserve despite winning the Iber Cup last year in Costa Del Sol, Spain.
“I do not want my squad to be treated poorly. Why would we need to cover the cost of playing when they have invited us?” Lim Teong Kim said as quoted by Sinar Harian.
“We do not need to stoop to their level and we will not be joining the Iber Cup this year.
The Under-14 squad will join Elite Tournament in Mougin, France next month.
“Winning is not everything but consistency is,” Lim Teong Kim concluded.
The Under-13 squad made Malaysia proud when they won the Iber Cup after defeating Sporting Lisbon 2-1 at the Munoz Perez Sports Centre in Marbella, Spain last year.
