Malaysian badminton rising star Goh Jin Wei has set her targets on engaging in more international championships this year after pulling off an upset in the World Youth Championships in Lima, Peru last year.
The 16 year-old aims to improve her ranks so that she could take part in much bigger tournaments.
“My target in the next five years would be to become the world’s best player, besides wanting to be in the top 80, because after that I can play in the Grand Prix Gold championships,” said Jin Wei as quoted from Sinar Harian.
Jin Wei is currently at no.139 in the BWF World Rankings. She also claimed that this year she would try her best to avoid playing many tournaments in a row in order to achieve adequate rest as she felt that her performance had deteriorated.
“This year I will be more careful when taking part in any championships because I’m worried that my performance will deteriorate even more.”
Jin Wei will be playing in the China International Challenge this upcoming January 19-24.
