Spanish player Tommy Robredo was taken out of the equation as Novak Djokovic, trashed the Spaniard 6-1, 6-2 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships – which was his 699th career win.
“Every achievement is a special moment for me, of course. I hope I will be able to celebrate my 700th match victory in this tournament,” the Serbian said to AFP.
“This achievement, however will not affect me of my preparation for my upcoming match nor will it change my approach as I face my fellow opponent.
“Hence, it would be a definite joy if I achieved my milestone here. If not here, maybe next time,” the 28 year old added.
Djokovic currently holds a record of 13 wins with no defeats this season. He’s on the hunt for his 3rd trophy of this year after being crowned champion in Doha and Melbourne.
Djokovic will face Tunisia’s Malek Jaziri in the next round, where he’s expected to complete and seize his 700th career win.
