Johor DT have publicly dropped a hint at the possibility of seeing Argentinian striker Juan Martin Lucero leave the club, following in the footsteps of his strike partner, Jorge Pereyra Diaz.
The hint was dropped on their official Facebook page earlier today, as JDT confirmed that they had accepted a USD2.5 million bid from an undisclosed Mexican club, for Lucero’s services.
“We are the first and only club in the country that buys players with value. We have received an offer for Lucero from Mexico. We bought him for USD1.5 million and we are selling him for USD2.5million,” a part of the statement read.
Despite starting slowly, Lucero was at the forefront of everything positive about JDT throughout 2016, bagging 27 goals across all competitions. He also formed a formidable partnership with Pereyra Diaz, who netted a total of 32 goals this year.
This news comes merely days after JDT confirmed the acquisition of ex-Independiente striker Brian Ferreira as well as former Boca Juniors Gonzalo Cabrerra. The Southern Tigers have also signed Gabi Guerra, who plied his trade with PKNS FC last year. However, Gabi will be integrated into the Johor DT II set-up for the time being.
With Hariss Harun also on the verge of being sent out on loan, all eyes are eagerly awaiting the club’s next move, with a ‘mysterious’ fourth foreigner rumoured to be edging closer to filling their ‘import quota’.
